(Scroll down for the reveal!)
📍 Destination of the Week: Mexico City, Mexico 🇲🇽💀🌼
Day of the Dead season is in full swing, and early November is a great time to be in the capital. The rainy season is over: SMN's 1991–2020 normals for November put the average high around 73°F (23°C) and the low around 50°F (10°C), with very little rain. Pack a jacket for the evenings.
The Vibe: Marigold-covered ofrendas, sugar skulls, late-night tacos and a city-wide celebration of memory.
Key Highlight: The free Gran Desfile de Día de Muertos runs Saturday, Oct 31 from 2:00 p.m., from the Diana Cazadora fountain along Paseo de la Reforma, Avenida Juárez and 5 de Mayo to the Zócalo, where the Ofrenda Monumental stands through Nov 2. Arriving later? The city's monumental alebrijes (giant fantastical sculptures) stay on display along Reforma until Nov 8. [RE-CHECK the parade time and route on send day. Final street closures are usually announced 1–2 days before.]
Safety Snapshot: The U.S. State Department rates Mexico Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution, and Mexico City is also Level 2. The advisory notes that crime occurs throughout the city and asks visitors to take extra care at night and outside popular tourist areas. Parade crowds are prime territory for pickpockets, so carry a cross-body bag and keep your phone in a front pocket. [RE-CHECK the advisory before sending.]

🛡️ The Jetsetter Field Kit: Safety & Health Tips 🧳⚡
Respect the altitude: At about 7,350 ft, you may feel short of breath or get headaches at first. Take day one easy, drink plenty of water and go light on alcohol.
Watch the air: Mexico City issues environmental alerts (contingencias ambientales) when ozone spikes. Check live readings at aire.cdmx.gob.mx before a big outdoor day.
Food & water: Follow CDC's food and water advice for Mexico, and stick to bottled or purified water if you're unsure. CDC: Mexico traveler page
Save 911: It's Mexico's national emergency number. U.S. citizens can also enroll trips in STEP for embassy alerts.
Check your coverage: U.S. Medicare generally doesn't cover care abroad, and many U.S. plans offer limited coverage, so check before you go.

Trivia Answer: C) 7,350 ft! 🇲🇽 Mexico City sits about 2,240 meters above sea level, so that first flight of stairs may feel harder than usual. Pace yourself! ✨

Marigolds, candlelit altars and a whole city honoring the people it loves. Few places feel as alive as Mexico City this weekend. Pack a light jacket, take the altitude slow and let's go make some memories! ✨
